1.950 hexagons later...

It started last year while I was on vacation with my dad and sis.
Do you remember this pic ?

This is where my love for paper piecing started. Since I made my first hexagons I'm completly hooked.
In the past 12 months I was always working on my hexagon flower project when I was traveling or when I was in mood to hand sew.

Finally 5 weeks ago I added my last flower.

1.950 little hexagons were made into this lovely quilt in less than a year.
I used one tiny piece of each of my fabric in my stash (minus the ones I bought in the last months) and sashed everything in kona ash.

Now there is even more work waiting for me because I decided to hand quilt this baby.
I plan to quilt around each flower with grey embroidery thread.
I already finished the backing and I'm going to baste this quilt as soon as I'm leaving the hospital.

I already made my decission for the binding.
Gladly I was able to find yardage of the Annie's Seed Catalogue so I can use the same fabric which I already used for the center of the flowers.

After 1.950 tiny pieces I still love hexagons so I already started another project.
I will have lots of time durring chemo so hopefully the next one wont take me a year to finish.

I wasn't lazy - a craft update

Since I returned from Bad Homburg I wasn't lazy when it comes to crafty things. While I waited for the results from doctors and made apointments I always had something to SEW.
My SIL got the samsung galaxy S II like me so she was in need for a cute little case to protect her new toy.
She didn't ask for anything special. She just told me that she likes soft colors like purple and pink.
I came up with a bag using some super tiny scraps from my always growing scrap bag.

My samsung galaxy S II was in need for a new case as well. I used an old which I made for the shop but never sold.
My love for hexies is still growing and I always carry a little hexie project with me where ever I go.
This time I tryed super tiny hexies. I have no idea how small they are (because I'm typing this from the hospital and I don't have anything to measure it) but believe me they are really tiny.
For the background I grabed a piece of fabric which I bought in my early sewing days around 2006.
I was always looking for the most perfect project to show it and here it is.

I hand quilted the back and the front with embroidery thread.
I added a tiny loop for some cell phone charms since the new mobile phones have nothing to hang my fave charms.

My kitchen is another place which is getting a massive make over.
Our kitchen is a very old and ugly one. We bought it second hand and it's nearly falling apart now.
We have no money to get a new one so I used my sewing skills to pimp my ugly kitchen up.
I started with some new pot holders and an oven mitt.
For the oven mitt I recycled the batting from my old and completly worn out oven mitt.

Since our kitchen is plain looking I wanted some bright and cheerful. I used some of my kitchen themed fabrics and added random fabrics from my scrap bag .

These are just a few projects which I made in the past 6 or 7 weeks. Stay tunned for some crafty news .

spring days

spring days, originally uploaded by crafting with loove.

It's the first day after surgery and I'm already out of my room.
Spring is here in germany and we had around 26 °C today. Mr. artistic and his parents visited me and we went for a long walk around the hospital.
The doctor told me that it takes around 1 1/2 week to get the results from the lymph nodes due to the public holiday next week.

Killing time

Killing time, originally uploaded by crafting with loove.

While I'm typing this I'm still waiting for surgery. I kill the time with my second big hexagon project . I'm making big flowers this time.
I'm completely relaxed. I decided that life to short to worry all time. Nobody knows what your life is going to be or what will happen. You can cross the street and a car will kill you or a crazy guy thinks that he wants to test his gun shooting skills.
You never know so why should I worry . I'm alive and I have friends, family and a great hobby.
I'm a lucky girl. That's all.

rainbows

rainbows, originally uploaded by crafting with loove.

Two days ago I saw this amazing rainbow from the living room window. The weather is changing every day. Sometimes it feels like spring already but it never last for a long time.
Tomorrow I'm rushing to the hospital to talk about the surgery which is scheduled for thursday this week.
They already told me when the chemo starts. It's monday in two weeks.

I went to the office the past two days and I have to admit that I enjoyed every minute.
Being at work makes me feel like there is no change at all. It feels so normal .

no news

no news, originally uploaded by crafting with loove.

I went to my doctor appointment today but I have no really new news. There were still some papers from the lab missing so they couldn't make a treatment plan yet.
I have to wait another week till wednesday.
I plan to work at least for a week (starting on 22. april) because I really need sth. to do and of course I miss my colleagues.

Money is a reason too of course.

Tonight...

Tonight..., originally uploaded by crafting with loove.

I'm going to see the hunger games. I'm more than excited.
I read all 3 books in less than 1 1/2 week and loved everything.

For the health plans I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully he will tell me more what's coming next. I'm pretty sure that there will be another chemo. Stupid me threw all the head scrafes in the bin 2 months ago.
