Maybe the last post for this year

I doubt that I will write another post today or tomorrow so probably this will be my last post for this year.

2012 wasn't my year. Chemo and radiation ruled my year.
Between this I tried to fill my year with fun and crafty things.

So this last post for 2012 won't be a reflection of the last year (who wants to reflect a year of illness ??!) just another normal post like all the others before.

Filled with fashion and some sewing of course.

At the moment I'm at my sis place in Berlin. I'm here since the 23th.

Our christmas holidays have been quite busy.
We spent some time at my dads home, visited an old friend of my dad (they know each other since more than 40 years), went to my grandmas birthday and went for some shopping fun.

My little sis joined us for 3 days and left yesterday for her new years holidays.

I didn't soent any of my christmas holidays at the inlaws home this year.
But my little niece gave me her gift before I left. I fantastic big cold which is still bothering me.

I left a few presents for my inlaws before I drove to Berlin.
Mr. artistic (who spent christmas with his family) gave the gifts to his family while I was away.

There was a new mobile phone bag for his sister and Dresden pillow cover for his niece.
I used for the Dresden pillow cover the same fabrics which I plan to use for her first big girl quilt.
She will turn 3 in january and if her parents finally find the time to meassure her bed I will make her a matching quilt for her birthday.

The biggest gift for my inlaws was definetly the vintage quilt for my MIL.
I wanted to make a quilt for her since more than a year but there was no time or sth. happened so that I lost the interesst in making this quilt.

Gladly my sewing mojo was quite big this year so I finished it in time.
I used some vintage fabrics which I bought from ebay a few years ago.

When I bought the fabrics I always had my MIL in mind so it was perfect that I started quilt making.
Finally I was able to turn these lovely flower fabrics in something usefull.
The quilt turned out really small. It's only lapsized but I think it doesn't matter since my MIL is really small.
She will only use it on the sofa so the size is pretty OK for her.

The quilt backing is made from flannel.
The quilt will keep her warm durring her afternoon nap.

Sadly I made a mistake with the label. I burned it with my iron. Since there was no time to make another one I had to give the quilt away like this .

It seems that I was a good etsy seller this year so I recieved this darling diary from etsy.de.
It's so perfect for all my notes and I'm glad that I'm so behind with getting one this year.

Some lovely friends spoilt me with christmas gifts again this year.
I recieved a lovely mail from Mo with some lovely fabrics for more fun dolly outfits.
Sadly I deleted the picture before I was able to post it here (stupid me).

Another parcel (this time I didn't delete the pic...phew) from Singapore.
Jo spoilt me with some darling handmade gifts (a cute little dress, a crochet hat, a little bag and miniature teddy), fabrics, yarn and a cute little toy camera.
My doll is already dressed in the new outfit. Just my lazy ass keeps me away from taking a pic.

The best christmas card came from Lala this year. Isn't it cute !

pillow fun

Since I'm not able to show you any handmade christmas presents now I thought it would be fun to share my latest pillow covers with you.

Since all the pillows arrived at there new home I don't need to worry that the recipient might see it here.

This pillow was a little birthday gift for a friend .

A friend of mine moved to a new city.
I wanted to give her something special to remember our fun time together.

The next two pillows were birthday gifts for my darling friend Wendy.
I remembered her awesome red sofa and wanted sth. to match it.

This pillow was a little christmas gift for a lovely little girl.

Christmas colors

I love to dress in christmas colors recently.

The green coat is one of my faves.

The red shoes were a lucky find. Got them on sale for only 50 €.
They are really warm and great for long walks.

My little vintage bag helps me to leave useless stuff at home.
With my bigger bags I used to carry half of my household with me.

christmas cheer

Long time no update here on the blog.

I was super busy with working on christmas presents. Sadly I can't show the results right now since some of the recipients are reading my blog.

But I want to share my christmas decorated living room.

Sadly I can't put up all my christmas stuff since the cat loves to play with the bells and smaller christmas decoration.

But I set up the handmade christmas calender. I made this one a few years back.
There is another handmade calender. A wooden christmas train but there was no place for both.

Most of my christmas stuff is vintage german wooden ones. A few were given to me by my mom and others were bought from vintage shops.

I keep all my christmas cards and set them up as well. I wish I had more room to show them all .

I really love my living room. With all the lights and decoration and look so comfy.
The last 3 days mr. artistic and I watched all 3 episodes of Lord of the Rings.
Now we are prepared for the Hobbit :)

Christmas cuddle

Last week I finished my cuddly christmas quilt.
I'm so proud and I really like this quilt so much.

It has a lovely flannel back with super cute christmas print. I used some low cotton batting so it's perfect to use it as a cuddly blanket on my sofa.

I quilted the baby free motion which turned into my fave way of quilting. It's so easy and quick and the result is always stunning and outstanding.
Sadly my table is to small so I have to take my sewing machine to the inlaws and quilt my quilts at their awesome big dinning table (if I want to quilt free motion).

The quilt pattern is so lovely and I'm very happy that I found it.

I made a few extra blocks to turn them into some fun gifts.
I turned one block into a pillow cover.

It's a pillow cover for my cute friend Mira. I just dropped it into her mail box. Now I'm waiting to hear back from her. I hope she will like the fabrics I picked for her.

This is my pillow.

I made the dresden plates last year before I went to Hong Kong but I had no time to finish it.
Last night finally I turned the christmas dresden plates into a pillow for my sofa.

Now my home is looking very warm and christmassy.
I pulled out all the decoration and set them up.
I will post pictures the next days.

Now I will go back and cuddle under my quilt.

Christmas is coming...

... and the goose is getting fat... (* my fave christmas song)

Only one month till christmas and I try not to panic.
My to do list is pretty long but I try to get everything on time.

Glady I can skip one little point from the list. The top for my christmas quilt is finally done.

It's made from my little but deeply loved christmas fabric stash.
Most of the fabrics are in my stash for a few years already. I rarely buy holiday themed fabrics. Mostly only 3 or 4 each year so I had to wait a few years to make this quilt.

I wanted a simple design for the quilt blocks to save on time and I wanted less cutting to showcase the prints.
The gift package design from Kate Spain by Moda was the best choice in my eyes.

I added a fun border from my fave Alexander Henry fabric. The cute christmas scenes are so adorable and I'm glad that I came up with the idea of the border.

Now I just need to baste and quilt this baby which will be done hopefully on monday or tuesday while I spent a few days at the inlaws.

I'm not sure if I talked about my fave clothes label already.
At the monent I buy lots of stuff from mint & berry.

Mint & Berry is a fantastic little lable from Berlin. They make awesome clothes and I would love to buy all their stuff.

Emotion

I'm still at home with depression.
I'm feeling better every day and I'm able to enjoy life more and more each day.

The past days have been an emotional rollercoaster for me.
My mood wasn't the best. I'm pretty sure it's because of my current job situation.
My company is closing my department and I'm jobless in the new year.

Even if I complained very often in the past years I loved my job and the guys at work.

My work kept me grounded durring this year.
It made me feel normal.

I'm not sure if I'm able to go back for the last 6 weeks of work. It makes me sad being there and I'm not able to focus on sth.
Gladly I can stay at home with sick leave till the middle of december and I still have lots of paid holidays left.

Right now I'm sewing my ass of. My to do list before christmas is soooo long.
I hope to get everything done in time.
