Embrace the sun quilt

The may is nearly over and it's still pretty hard to find the sun in germany.

It's always raining and the temerature is pretty low.
Tuesday was the only nice day this week so I spent most of the days outside.

I went jogging and me and mr. artistic took our bikes for a little ride.

In the late afternoon we met with friends and had a little barbecue.

But I'm full of hope that the sun might come back again this summer so I finished my "Embrace the sun" summer quilt.

I used only stuff I had on hand. I mixed some vintage fabrics with a few fabric left overs from other projects.

For the backing I used an old curtain which was gifted to me by a friend of my dad.
The green is perfect to put the quilt on the grass because you won't see any spots.

The binding is made by the last pieces of vintage fabrics which I had left over and some solids.

Now I'm hoping the sun comes back pretty soon that I can use the quilt.

Embrace the sun

It's been a while since I worked on a quilt because there was no need for a gift and I already had enough.
But last week when I finished jogging I didn't want to go home.
The weather was so nice so I stayed a bit longer near the sports ground.
I took the old blanket out of my car and stayed a while just relaxing in the sun.

But why using an old blanket to relax in the sun ?

So I came with idea to make myself a fun summer quilt to spent time outside with a comfy and pretty blanket.

I didn't want to buy any new fabrics so I used what I had.
Gladly I still had a few pieces of vintage fabrics from my cross quilt since the colors and patterns are so nice for a summer quilt.

I added some solids and made a few cross blocks and some stars in different sizes.

I'm not sure about the red and the brown in the quilt but since I'm already at the quilting status it's to late for changes.

The cutting and block making took my only one day.
Pretty quick for a complete quilt top for me :)

Sadly there wasn't enough batting at home so I had to buy a 1/2 m at the fabric store.
But beside of this I'm only using things I already have at home.

already a month...

...since my last post.

So many things happen and between all the stress I try to find time to relax.

I hade a few job interviews and at the moment I talk with two companies about worktime, salary and all that stuff.
No contracts are signed yet but hopefully I will be able to sign one.

Now we have a ll the papers to aply for a flat in Berlin. You need lots of stuff when you have no income and try to find a flat.
Thankfully mr. artistics sis (who is a doctor) is vouching for us. Hopefully it will help us to find a flat.
Sadly the rent in Berlin is my higher and my salary will be pretty low so our new apartment will be much smaller than this one.
I have no idea where to store all my stuff.

In june is the Blythecon Europe and I already paid for my stall there .
But right now I don't see any hope to make it.
My car broke and I won't be able to fix it.
I have to buy a new one.
And all this happens when I have to pay tons of money for the move and the new flat.

Last week we had a little party on the other side of the street.

Under the sea was the theme this time. I bought an old vintage wedding dress and dyed it in different shades of blue.

My hubby was so kind to color my hair with whatercolor in different shades of blue.
I made a fun and quick fish headband to match the outfit.

Between all the stuff I try to get some quilting and sewing done.
My head is full of ideas but sometimes I'm a bit to slow.

But two little dolly outfit sets are finished and you can find these at ebay.

I try to blog a bit more often now. Super big promise !!
