weekend review

It's already thursday so time for a little blog update. My past weeekend has been very relaxed.

I stayed at home and worked on a few projects.

There was some embroidery...

...which I turned into a mobile phone bag.

There was some Dresden plates fun.

With pink....

...and rainbow colours.

And there was a yummy dinner with mr. artistic....

...and making one of my fave quick recipes. Eggs with mustard sauce. Served with potatoes. A typical german recipe.

I played with my new 12.5 x 12.5 inch ruler and found out that none of my 12.5 inch block ARE 12.5 inch at all.

I really need to get a better foot for my sewing machine.

week 39: Things I love

       I post every wednesday about things I love because

I always take lots of pictures of things I like but I never post or upload any of these.
So I came up with the idea to post every wednesday about things I love.

This week I'm loving....

 

day trips with my dad

 

Every time I go to Berlin I take the friday off to spend it with my dad.

We always have big plans but there is never enough time to do everything we planed ahead.

 

 

 

Two weeks ago I had 1000 of plans for that day but after sleeping untill 10 am there was not enough room for doing everything on the list.

 

 

We cut the list short and went to a big book store first. We sepereated and each of us spent 2 hours in different sections of the book store.

I left the store with another travel guide for my Hong Kong trip in november and my dad added a few more books on his "I need to buy" list.

 

 

We left the bookstore and took the bus to Berlin; Mitte.

My dad used to live (untill 1994) in Mitte next to Berliin wall.

 

 

I haven't been there since a long time and so many things changed. After the they broke down the wall they rebuilt a little pond which used to be there (before WWII). There is now a little cafe near the pond which is really nice .

 

 

My dad and I just walked around Mitte to look for some places we still remember.

 

 

 

We were both not in hurry so it was a lovely and relaxing trip.

 

 

 

It was already getting dark when we left Mitte to have a last beer before we took the tram home.

 

 

It's always great to spend time alone with my dad. He is such an amazing man. Love you dad !!

 

A little bit of sewing

When I think about the past weekend it felt like I was only sewing.

I was working on so many projects that the weekend passed by so quickly.

I was able to finish some long overdue quilt projects and prepare stuff for my next weekend.

Do you remember this little plus quilt ?!

I planed to turn it into a doll quilt for my wall (in my sewing area) but since I already have a vintage quilt on my wall I turned it into a pillow cover.

Since the mini quilt has unusual pillow size I had to make the pillow foam myself.

It was really easy and I was able to use some left over stuffing from making dolls and soft toys.

I'm very happy that I finally found a good use for this mini quilt. It looks so darling with my plus quilt.

I totally love seeing these together .

In my last post I mentioned that I'm working on some placemats for my SIL.

She will turn 37 this saturday so I had to work quickly.

Her dinning area is mostly black, red and white. Gladly I found some fabrics in my stash wehich goes really nice together.

I used the pillow tuorial from Elisabeth Hartmann.

It's a really nice and easy to follow tutorial.

I quilted each placemat in a different way. I had really fun trying out something new and I have to admit that I start to like free motion quilting.

My quilting is far away from being perfect but at least the stitches look really nice. They are all nearly the same length.

It's really hard to pick a fave but I think I love the "crazy lines"one most.

Mr. artistic told me that he really likes the geometric placemat.

Wavy lines are easy and fun and always turn out really nice.

I'm pretty sure my SIL will like these because I really do love these.

I really need some placemats for myself.

Did I ever mentioned that I still don't have a quilted placemat for myself ?!

Right now I'm working on a few comission orders.

I'm making another cloth doll and a tiny Hoppel to match this one.

I'm also preparing some dolls and tiny Hoppel's for the shop. The Hoppel's will be available as boys (with moustache) and as girls.

I nearly finished all the machine sewing parts and I will take the  Hoppel pieces with me for a long weekend at mr. artistics parents home.

Can you imagine to finish 48 Hoppel arms and legs (turning, stuffing and closing the seams) ?

 I must be crazy !

a sunday in pictures

Sunday is always the most laziest day in the week.

Today was completly different.

I got lots of things done without complaining.

(What's in your fridge ? I serve films !)

 I cleaned the fridge and the cat toilet.

Mie was super lazy as always. She rested on the H&M box and gave me instructions.

I made two cakes for work tomorrow. They are for the guys at work.

 I went jogging with mr. artistic and collected some wild grown apples.

I made stewed apples with cinnamon. It's my fave dessert for lunch at work.

I prepared the dinner.

It's such a long time since I last had a good pizza bologna. I bought all the ingredients and made one myself.

Pizza bologna was my fave pizza when I was in italy 10 years ago.

I made a really big pizza so I can still enjoy a piece tomorrow at work for lunch.

Now I'm working on a little sewing project. I started with this one a long time ago.

Hopefully I can finish it today.

Now I'm resting on my fave sofa and watch some films with mr. artistic.

My blocks for the blocks Summer Sampler Series Quilt Along are growing quick.
 

I made 3 extra blocks yesterday.
I think working on these blocks really improve my patchwork skills & it's super fun too.

I will work on the next block for the summer sampler quilt along and take a little break to work on other patchwork projects.
