my christmas week in pictures

It's already a week since I left home for christmas holidays.
I had no time for blogging because I was visiting family and friends.

I spent the three christmas days with the inlaws.

My little niece is growing so fast. She is turning 2 in january and already talking so much <3
I love it when is saying my name.

After Christmas I rushed to Berlin.

On 27th my sis (who is living in Berlin and where I'm staying till new years eve) and I went to my dad for dinner. My dad is living in Berlin too and he spent christmas with my sis.

We cooked together and watched a movie (which turned out to be the most stupid movie of 2011 for me).

The next day my sis + I met up with my little sis and went to my grandparents home. My grandma turned 75 and we went out for lunch.

Yesterday I met with my friend Katja for lunch....

(me in the metro showing my sis via phone that I always bring my little toy cat)

...and some spanish chocolate with churros.

Later that days my sis and I went to Bärbel (an old friend of my dad) for dinner. We spent hours with chatting and eating <3.

Today my sis and I started our day in bed with a good Jane Austen movie.
Later we went shopping to use my christmas money to get myself a new coat.
Sadly m fave color was sold out already so I went with a light brown.
Mr. artistic calls the color poo-poo brown.
I lke it because it goes well with my purple hat ans scarf.

christmas market in Dresden

Before I'm writing my last post about my Hong Kong vacation I want to blog about sth. christmas related.

Last weekend I went to the 50th birthday party of my uncle. It was some kind of family meeting because we are to busy to meet often.

A big birthday party is always a good reason to meet and spent some quality time. I arrived on wednesday last week in Berlin and stayed at my sis home till saturday. My little sis joined us on friday and we took my sis car and drove all the way in the mountins.
We packed lots of christmas music and some of our fave christmas audio dramas for the 3 1/2 hours in the car.

The party was really lovely. I was able to see my uncle and my cousins again. We ate , we drank and we danced (I really hate dancing but it was my uncles birthday and HE loves dancing).

The next morning we rushed after a little breakfast to the christmas market in Dreseden.
In germany we are taking our christmas markets very serious. Nearly every little town has there own christmas market with lots of cute and interessting stuff to see.

But there are some really big and lovely ones like the one in Dresden. Sadly I wasn't able to enjoy the christmas market as much as I'm doing it normally. After only 5 hours of sleep and my rumbling tummy I was glad to just survive the visit.

We had only 3 hours before I had to take the train back to Göttingen. I had to change the train 3 times and mostly I had onle 10 minutes.
I really hated it and I was glad to be at home after 5 hours on different trains.

autumn walk in Hildesheim

Because I'm glued to my sewing machine this weekend I'm not able to enjoy the fantastic autumn weather.
Last weekend me and mr. artistic visited his parents (like we do every month). This weekend was extra special because my dad came all the way from Berlin for a short visit.
I had tickets for a Bob Dylan & Mark Knopfler concert and arrived a day early to spent a few hours with mr. artistic, my inlaws and me.

The weather was amazing so we picked him up from the train station and went for a little autumn walk in Hildesheim before we met with the inlaws for some cake and coffee.

Mr. artistic showed my dad his hometown and we went to his old school.
Sadly it was closed (of course because it was a saturday) but at least we were able to sneak a peek.

Hildesheim is a pretty little town with lots of green.
It's the town were I studied and of course where I met my hubby (aka mr. artistic) more than 7 years ago.

Hildesheim was nearly destroyed during WW2 but a few church survived the war.

But not all old building were destroyed.  A street with cute little houses survived.

My dad is totally interessted in history and all that stuff so we had lots of fun exploring lovely places.

Sadly we had only 3 hours to explore Hildesheim together before we went for some cake to my inlaws.

I enjoyed every minute of the autun walk and so did my dad & mr. artistic.

Hildesheim is a lovely little town and if you are traveling in germany you should take your time for a little visit.

week 39: Things I love

I post every wednesday about things I love because
I always take lots of pictures of things I like but I never post or upload any of these.
So I came up with the idea to post every wednesday about things I love.
Feel free to join me. Post every wednesday a picture (or a few more) of things you like and tell us why.
This week I'm loving....

day trips with my dad

Every time I go to Berlin I take the friday off to spend it with my dad.
We always have big plans but there is never enough time to do everything we planed ahead.

Two weeks ago I had 1000 of plans for that day but after sleeping untill 10 am there was not enough room for doing everything on the list.

We cut the list short and went to a big book store first. We sepereated and each of us spent 2 hours in different sections of the book store.
I left the store with another travel guide for my Hong Kong trip in november and my dad added a few more books on his "I need to buy" list.

We left the bookstore and took the bus to Berlin; Mitte.
My dad used to live (untill 1994) in Mitte next to Berliin wall.

I haven't been there since a long time and so many things changed. After the they broke down the wall they rebuilt a little pond which used to be there (before WWII). There is now a little cafe near the pond which is really nice .

My dad and I just walked around Mitte to look for some places we still remember.

We were both not in hurry so it was a lovely and relaxing trip.

It was already getting dark when we left Mitte to have a last beer before we took the tram home.

It's always great to spend time alone with my dad. He is such an amazing man. Love you dad !!

my family
I met with my two sisters and my dad last weekend.
I went to Berlin to meet up with old school mates and of course to see my sisters.
I rarely see my little sis. She lives in Rostock and most of the time she is busy with her BF and work.
It was a great weekend and we had an awesome time together.
There was some flea mark fun, shopping and just hanging around and chatting.

Happy birthday Berni !

My sister turns 31 today.

(me and my big sis - 1983)
We have been always very close. We are close in age (only 1 1/2 year) and we shared a room untill I turned 15.

(me and Berni in Kindergarten)
We had a bunk bed and every evening untill we fall asleep we make up a little stories with our guinea pigs (we always had a few when we were little) as main characters. We changed our voices into our special guinea pig voices every time we came up with a story.

Every time I visit my sis and her current guinea pig we are still doing the same. Our voices change and my sis is "the voice" for her guinea pig. We even talk like this on the phone. Sometimes it's a bit embarrassing when my hubby is listening.

(Berni, Franzi and me)
My sis lives in Berlin. It's only 450 km from where I live but it's always hard to find time to visit each other. This year was a really good one. We met several times and I'm going to see her in 2 weeks.

(Berni and me - 2006)
I really miss her a lot and I always have hard times letting her go home when she visits me.
She is not only my sis. She is my best friend.

(Berni & me last month)

Since a few years me and my sis give each other handmade gifts. This year my sis aked for a handmade wallet. She coose the fabrics while she was here for the wedding and I'm sewing my ass off to get it done untill we sea each other in two weeks.

A handmade birthday card is very popular and both of us putting lots of love in every card we make . This year I thought I might need to break the rules.
Why always making birthday card ?!

They collect dust and I bet my sis drawer is already cluttered up with tons of card.
I wanted to make something usefull.

(birthday mug rug)

My sis started a new job today (yes on her birthday). She is the head of a little kindergarten.
Her office really needs something bright and cheerful so I made a scrappy mosaic mug rug.

I used lots of colourful fabrics because my sis really loves everything with bright colours.

Enjoy your day big sis. I'm sending you a big cyber ug !!!!!
