birthday gifts

I have a super long sewing to do list on my desk.
It try to finish this list but it's still growing.
I add more stuff each day and sometimes I really feel bad because there are so many things to make.
So I'm hiding the list sometimes.
The last 2 weeks I was able o finish some birthday gifts.

I made placemats for Wendy's new home. I wanted to keep the design simple to go with her new grey kitchen.

I really love working with solids. Since a few months I'm building a solid stash. I still need lots of more colours but I try to focus on fabrics which I really need.

My sis asked for a wallet for her birthday after she saw mine.
When she visited me in august for my wedding she picked some fabrics from my stash.

Normally she goes with bright coloured stuff but this time she wanted to keep it simple.

I got the cute ice skate key chain while I was in Singapore last year. I went to a super awesome shop with Jo, Joelle and Wendy. The shop sells tons of cute charms and stuff to make your own necklaces.

I used my fave pattern from napkittenpattern.
Her patterns are so well written with tons of instructions and pics.
If you are looking for a great pattern go and buy one from napkittenpattern.

Right now I'm working on a comission cloth doll like this one which I made earlier this year.
I need to finish 4 placemats for my SIL who is turning 37 next week (thank mr. artistic for not telling me earlier).
There are still some little Hoppel's waiting to be finished too.
My list is still so long *sigh*

week 38: Things I love

It's already thursday .Normally I post every wednesday about things I love.
This week I'm a day late again.

I always take lots of pictures of things I like but I never post or upload any of these.
So I came up with the idea to post every wednesday about things I love.
Feel free to join me. Post every wednesday a picture (or a few more) of things you like and tell us why.
This week I'm loving....
my family
I met with my two sisters and my dad last weekend.
I went to Berlin to meet up with old school mates and of course to see my sisters.
I rarely see my little sis. She lives in Rostock and most of the time she is busy with her BF and work.
It was a great weekend and we had an awesome time together.
There was some flea mark fun, shopping and just hanging around and chatting.

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

The titel says it all. My last weekend was dedicated to quilts.
I have a few quilts in progress (and even more ideas in my mind) so I was super happy to finish the next quilt top.
A few weeks ago I started with my "Little apple" quilt.
I fall in love with the prints from Aneela Hoey since a very long time. I missed her first line "sherbert pips" because I wasn't much in sewing and quilting at this time.
So I was quit happy when she announced her new collection "Little apple".

The prints are super adorable and I had really hard times to wait for the release.
I was happy when I snatched an early release charm pack from etsy and started cutting right away.
But I lost track after a short while because I had a few other projects which had to be finished first. So I didn't touch the quilt for a while.

Friday I finally kicked my ass and finished the quilt top in a very short time.
I wanted a quilt pattern which shows every lovely print of the collection so I went with the Marshmallow Brochette from Threaded Mess.

It's a very lovely quilt pattern to showcase all the lovely prints from Aneela Hoey.

Since it was a really crafty weekend I spent a few hours working on my Hexagon quilt. I was a able to add a bunch of new flowers but there are still lots of flowers left.

Mie was always by my side. She was testing a new pillow which I was working on as weel. It's not finished yet but Mie already loves it.

This week I'm loving....

Picking up a fresh developed roll film from my last trip with mr. artistic.
Nearly all pics looks really lovely. I need to scan these (and all my other roll films).

That I found a shirt in my closet which I haven't seen for 3 years.
It's such a lovely shirt which I totally forgot. What a big surprice this morning.

New boots (from buffalo) for me.
I had no plans to get new boots but I always end up with new boots when I'm at my fave shoe shop.
New colourful headphones from benetton.
My fave sony headphones broke a few weeks ago. The new ones are really fancy but they are to big.

Finishing a new project.
I altered the pattern and made a small Hoppel.

Happy birthday Berni !

My sister turns 31 today.

(me and my big sis - 1983)
We have been always very close. We are close in age (only 1 1/2 year) and we shared a room untill I turned 15.

(me and Berni in Kindergarten)
We had a bunk bed and every evening untill we fall asleep we make up a little stories with our guinea pigs (we always had a few when we were little) as main characters. We changed our voices into our special guinea pig voices every time we came up with a story.

Every time I visit my sis and her current guinea pig we are still doing the same. Our voices change and my sis is "the voice" for her guinea pig. We even talk like this on the phone. Sometimes it's a bit embarrassing when my hubby is listening.

(Berni, Franzi and me)
My sis lives in Berlin. It's only 450 km from where I live but it's always hard to find time to visit each other. This year was a really good one. We met several times and I'm going to see her in 2 weeks.

(Berni and me - 2006)
I really miss her a lot and I always have hard times letting her go home when she visits me.
She is not only my sis. She is my best friend.

(Berni & me last month)

Since a few years me and my sis give each other handmade gifts. This year my sis aked for a handmade wallet. She coose the fabrics while she was here for the wedding and I'm sewing my ass off to get it done untill we sea each other in two weeks.

A handmade birthday card is very popular and both of us putting lots of love in every card we make . This year I thought I might need to break the rules.
Why always making birthday card ?!

They collect dust and I bet my sis drawer is already cluttered up with tons of card.
I wanted to make something usefull.

(birthday mug rug)

My sis started a new job today (yes on her birthday). She is the head of a little kindergarten.
Her office really needs something bright and cheerful so I made a scrappy mosaic mug rug.

I used lots of colourful fabrics because my sis really loves everything with bright colours.

Enjoy your day big sis. I'm sending you a big cyber ug !!!!!

So I came up with the idea to post every wednesday about things I love.

Feel free to join me. Post every wednesday a picture (or a few more) of things you like and tell us why.

This week I'm loving....

Having a cold iced coffee with lots of cream on a super hot & sunny day.
Hot days are rare this summer so I make sure that I have one when the sun is finally showing.

Getting candy and cakes from my dad with the cutest packaging.
It's from my fave fairy tale "Drei Hasselnüsse für Aschenbrödel". The film is from 1973 and based on Cinderella .

Cuddeling with my little Mie.
These are really rare moment because she is not the cuddle type of cat.

Spreading the love for dolls.
My little niece finally saw and played with her first Blythe. Her mum thinks Blythe are scary but I will definetly give her her first Blythe as a birthday gift when she is old enough.

Enjoying my fave instant noodles.
I tryed these in japan 2008 and bought 2 packages when I was in Hong Kong last year.
Sadly this was the last one so I need to stock up when I'm goiing to Hong Kong in november.
